Miss. Choice Shalom Kelly

Choice Shalom Kelly was born on January 29, 2010, to Brookes Dillon and Jim Kelly, Jr. Choice was number 4 of 6 children and a major part of “The Four,” “The Middles,” “The Little Four,” “Home Kids,” “Life with 6,” and most notably, “The Little Three,” where she was the sworn leader. She was named Choice since her mother did not plan on having any other children and she was God’s choice to be born. Shalom means peace, wholeness, completeness, and well- being. It encompasses a state of harmony, prosperity, and tranquility in all aspects of life, including inner peace and healthy relationships. Thus, Choice was chosen by God for peace and so much more. Her personality exemplified the characteristics of her name, and she wore it very well. Choice was an intelligent active scholar who enjoyed volunteering and participating in extracurricular activities. She was a member of the Beta Club and Student Council and was appointed as her Sophomore Class Vice-President. During her Texas residency, she was a member of the National Jr. Honor Society among other clubs and the student director and stage manager for her middle school drama department. Upon moving to Texas, she won the “Student of Honor” Award as a 6th grader during her first year attending that elementary school. Choice ROCKED!! Choice was a beautiful Black Barbie who loved her nails (press-ons and/or acrylic), lip gloss, WWE (Roman Reigns was her man), and sports, especially the NBA and WNBA. In particular, she was a major fan of Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces, and the LSU Tigers Women’s basketball. Choice was a sports analyst, who knew the game and could recite statistics to prove it. She was also her brother Judah’s agent, stat keeper, and top supporter. Additionally, she was a planner, executive assistant, and helped her mom keep everyone in check and on schedule. She was extremely unique and made an impact on whomever she met. Choice is survived by her parents; siblings, Justice, Keziah, Alethiah, Lydia, and Judah Kelly; grandmother, Phyllis (Ronald) Robertson; great-grandmother, Gloria Jones; grandfathers, Dr. Samuel C. Brown and Jim (Eula) Kelly, Sr.; Godmother, Georgia Showers; aunts, Jasmine (Laterrance) Neal, Sherlyn (Ralph) Thompson, Danielle (Christopher) Williams, and Pamela (Ian) Linton; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Choice will be forever missed and remembered for her beauty internally and externally, bossiness, nonchalantness, bluntness, and overall cool and “I’m just unapologetically me” vibes. She was an old lady with an old soul who loved God, her family, nails, and sports.
