Mr. Craig McCray Foster

Craig McCray Foster was born i n Independence, LA on June 25, 1969 to Letha Mae and Sterling J. Foster Sr. He graduated from Amite High School in 1987 and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1990. He left us on Monday, February 23, and while his passing brings deep sorrow, it also brings a moment to reflect on the gift of time we were given with him. One of the greatest blessings of this past year was being reunited with Craig. After years of distance, we were given the chance to reconnect, to talk, to laugh, and to remember who he was at his core. That time, though brief, was a gift we will carry for the rest of our lives. It reminded us that love never disappears; it simply waits for its moment to return. Craig was the youngest child of Sterling J. Foster, Sr. and Letha Mae Foster, and the baby brother of a large, loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Michael A. Foster and Brian K. Foster, his nephew Jonathan Foster. We take comfort in imaging them embracing him once again. One of the places where Craig shined brightest was in his work. He was a natural salesperson, someone who didn't just sell cars, but connected with people. He enjoyed what he did, and he mastered the art of it . Sales wasn't just a job for Craig, it was something he took pride in, something he excelled at. One of his friends shared a story with us that speaks to Craig's talent and generosity: Craig taught him so well in the car business that his friend was able to retire from that career in just nine years.. That is the kind of impact Craig had quiet, powerful, and lasting. When he reconnected with us, he did so with humility, gratitude, and a desire to rebuild what time had scattered. What we will remember most i s not the distance, but the return. Not the years apart, but the moments we reclaimed. Not the imperfections, but the love that endured. Craig's story is a reminder that it is never too late for healing, never too late for family, never too late for love to find its way back home. The time we shared with him at the end was a blessing, one we will forever cherish. Craig leaves behind two children, Myles Foster and Tiami Foster, and three grandchildren. He i s also mourned by his brothers, Carl J. Foster, Sr., Reginald J. Foster, Sr., and Sterling Foster, Jr., and his wife, Sonya Foster, and by one sister, Armena Hodari. His sisters-in-laws Leneise Lynn, Berta Foster, a n d Cynthia Foster. Our family was large, and he was loved by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins including Arianna Hodari, Lena Foster, Lauren Foster, Mikayla Foster, Anita Foster, Michelle Hollingsworth (Marcellious), Reginald Foster Jr. (Stephanie), Ryan Foster, R. Tyler Foster, S. Avery Foster, Carl Foster Jr., and many more who held him close in their hearts. Today, as we say goodbye, we honor all of who he was: a son, a brother, a father, a grandfather, a man who tried, who loved, who hoped, and who mattered. May his soul rest in peace, may his memory bring comfort and may we continue to hold him close by living with the same openness and grace that allowed us to find our way back to him.
