Mr. Gregory Andre Hurst

John 14: 1-3 Gregory Hurst was born on November 18, 1963 to Georgia and Robert Dalton. He had two children, Sherwanda McClain and Brad Watkins. He entered the arms of the Lord on October 30, 2025. Gregory was called Andre by family and nicknamed Squirrel because he was a great tree trimmer. He could climb a tree like no other. Andre went to school through Tangipahoa school system. He was a hard worker starting from a little boy. He owned a log truck as a young man. He wore many hats as a logger, fencer, carpenter, landscaper and farm worker. No one could not outwork him. He took pride in being a hard worker. He was well know in his community as such. As a part of him doing good for others, he would do work for the elderly at free or no cost. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and just being around water. The water was a calming touch for him. He also enjoyed music and dancing. You would hear his music as he pulled up followed by him getting out singing and dancing. Andre had an infectious smile. He didn’t talk much. He would smile and softly speak a few words. Now if you make him mad, watch out. He got that from his mom. Andre was baptized as a young boy at Bickham Chapel. Throughout his life, he knew and loved the Lord. He maintained a relationship with God by writing letters to him. He had that solid foundation that kept him planted in the Lord. He later recommitted his life to the Lord and joined Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church. He was baptized again by Pastor Bobby Showers Sr on October 24, 2025. Gregory’s memories will forever be cherished by his mother, Georgia Dalton of Amite, LA. Two children, Sherwanda McClain of Alexandria, LA and Brad Watkins of Cypress, TX. Five sisters, Sandra Self (Randy), Robin Dalton of Amite, LA. Carolyn Dalton of New Orleans, LA. Kraneshia Garner (Ezekiel) of Beaumont, TX and Elnora Williams of Amite, LA. Three brothers, Robert Dalton (Tawaka) of Princeton, TX. Cornelius Dalton of Covington, LA. and Robert Williams of Amite, LA. Seven grandchildren, Kenyatric McClain, Markell McClain, Javonte’ Watkins, Zharia Watkins, Bra’la Watkins, Bralyn Watkins, and Roze’Marie Watkins and a host aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Dalton Sr. Two brothers, Gregory Williams and Marvin Williams. Grandparents Mary and Chester Hurst, James Dalton and Nettie Temple. Best friend, Dennis Cyprian and beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
