Mr. Rodney Torenzo Boykins Sr.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me." - Psalm 23:4 CELEBRATION OF BIRTH Rodney Torenzo Boykins, Sr., was born on May 5, 1978, at Lallie Kemp Medical Center in Independence, Louisiana, to Joann B. Boykins and Collins C. Chaney, Sr. He departed this life without a sign on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, Louisiana. CELEBRATION OF FAITH "Train up a child in the way he should go and even when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 Rodney was a devoted member of Community Missionary Baptist Church in Fluker, Louisiana, under the leadership of Dr. Bobby Showers, Sr., and Dr. Bobby Showers, Jr. He lived a life filled with unwavering faith, deep love for God, and a genuine compassion for everyone he encountered. He graduated from Amite High School, Class of 1996, where he was a proud member of the 1694 State Championship team. He attended Southwest Mississippi to play football before attending Greensburg Technical College where he pursued his passion for welding. Rodney worked diligently in his trade at Southland Steel and Claymar Constructions in Maurepas, Louisiana, and through various other employment opportunities, always demonstrating dedication and pride in his work. CELEBRATION OF FAMILY On June 29, 1996, Rodney was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Tammie W. Boykins. From this loving 30-year union, they were blessed with four children: Tamara R. Boykins (Isiah); Rodney T. Boykins, Jr. (Breahganay); Collisha C. Boykins; and Torenzo D. Allen. He was a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Jumeel, Dorian, Callia, Miah, Szmaje, Lanonah and Ramere. Rodney leaves to cherish his precious memories: his devoted wife, his four children, and his beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by six sisters, Debra A. Scott, Ernestine Chaney, Richardo (Lester, Sr.) Smith, and Evelyn (Dussell, Sr.) Cooper, all of Greensburg, LA, Dimple C. Brooks of Kentwood, LA, and Tammy Foster of Baton Rouge, LA; six brothers, Anthony (Shirley) Boykins, Sr., Jerry (Tarsha) Boykins, and Tyrieo Bates, Sr., all of Fluker, LA, Stanley "Fox" Jones, James (Shannon) Chaney, Sr., and Kenneth W. Chaney; two sisters-in-law, Angela Zanders (Emanuel) and Candyce R. Warren; one brother-in-law, Prentiss R. Warren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Collins C. Chaney, Joann B. Boykins, and Delorise A. Chaney; one brother, Collins C. Chaney, Jr.; and one nephew, Lester Smith, Jr. "His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure."
