With profound sadness and immeasurable love, we announce the passing of Breya Carter, who departed this life on August 24, 2026, at the age of 34. Breya was born on June 27, 1992, to Beverly and Bobby Carter. From the very beginning, she held a special place in her family. She was the apple of her parents' eye, deeply loved as a daughter, sister, mother, and friend. Breya was a proud graduate of Kentwood High School, Class of 2010. She continued her education at Southern University, where she earned her degree in Criminal Justice. Those who knew Breya will remember her as a free spirit who lived life in her own unique way. She was a true fashionista with a love for style and beauty. She had a passion for her hair and makeup and loved expressing herself through her appearance. She was also a devoted perfume collector who appreciated beautiful fragrances and life's little luxuries. Above all, Breya was a loving mother to her daughters, Sole', Karlie, and Kerielle. She shared the special bond of sisterhood with her sisters, Lakendra Carter and Markieta Carter. Breya was also a beloved aunt to her nephews, Marcus Jr. "MJ" Elzie and Deontony "Jay" Williams, Jr., and her nieces, Zykeriah Elzie, Emily Williams, and Margan Elzie. Breya was more than the dates that mark her arrival and departure. She was a daughter her parents adored, a sister whose presence can never be replaced, a loving partner, a mother whose love will continue through her daughters, and a friend whose spirit touched the lives of those who knew her. Breya leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Beverly and Bobby Carter; her daughters, Sole', Karlie, and Kerielle; her boyfriend, Vontrelle Brumfield; her sisters, Lakendra Carter and Markieta Carter; her nephews, Marcus Jr. "MJ" Elzie and Deontony "Jay" Williams, Jr.; and her nieces, Zykeriah Elzie, Emily Williams, and Margan Elzie. She also leaves behind her aunts, Alice Ray Jackson, Beatrice Ashley, Janice Carter Tillman, and Joyce Carter Tobias; her uncle, Hubert Perry Carter; and a host of cousins, classmates, and friends who will continue to cherish her memory. Her family will remember her style, personality, love of perfume, passion for hair and makeup, individuality, laughter, and all of the moments - both big and small - that made Breya uniquely Breya.
