Mrs. Geraldine Blackwell Autmon

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:30-31 Another precious one from us is gone, a voice we love is stilled. Another place is vacant in our hearts which never can be filled. Deaconess Geraldine Blackwell Autmon better known as (G) was born on March 7, 1937, to the late Sedonia Blackwell and Arthur Blackwell Sr of New Orleans, Louisiana. She departed this life peacefully on October 29th, 2023, at approximately 10:30 PM in the home of Danielle and Patrick Williams with other family members by her side in Roseland, Louisiana. Geraldine was joined in holy matrimony to the late Woodrow Autmon, Sr (Coconut). Six children were born from this union. She was a graduate of Walter L. Cohn High School. She then moved to Port Sulphur working hard for many years at the Delta Day Training Center of Nairn, Louisiana. As time moved in her life, she was a committed member of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church of Port Sulphur under the leadership of the late Rev. George Mack, and the late Rev. Joseph Taylor. She was a dedicated member and later was ordained a Deaconess of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church of Port Sulphur for many years. The Rev. Mandrel Pansy became her pastor for several more years at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church of Port Sulphur. She also served with her deceased son at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Oakville, La for a short period of time. She leaves to cherish her memories, four children, Anthony Autmon of Port Sulphur, Louisiana, Sandra Autmon of New Orleans, Louisiana, William Autmon of Port Sulphur, Louisiana;and Tarais (Latecial) Autmon, Sr. of Roseland, Louisiana. One daughter-in-law, Avielle Marie Cross Autmon of Harvey, Louisiana. Three grandchildren, Danielle (Patrick) Williams of Roseland, Louisiana; Megan Autmon, Port Sulphur, Louisiana; and Tarais Autmon, Jr. of Amite, Louisiana; Three great-grandchildren, Raion Williams, Tarais III and Tyler Autmon. Two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Blackwell and Burdell Blackwell both of New Orleans, Louisiana. Three Godchildren, Triniece Duncan, Anternette Duncan and Jeovannah Edgerson. Best friends and co-workers, Linda Antoine, Mina Sylve, Bridget Barthelemy and a committed friend for many years the late Mr. Alvin Williams. And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sedonia and Arthur Blackwell, Sr.; her husband, Woodrow Autmon, Sr.; her brothers, Arthur Blackwell, Jr., Charles Blackwell and Earl Blackwell, Jr., and her two sons Patrick Autmon and Woodrow Autmon, Jr. Servant of God, well done, rest from your labor!
