Tasha Marie Brister

TASHA MARIE BRISTER WAS BORN ON March 4, 1970, in Bogalusa, LA. She was the eldest child of Gary and Phyllis Brister. Growing up, Tasha enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and visiting friends and family. At a young age, Tasha was taught how to sew by a cherished sister in the congregation. She later would recall the training as one of the best gifts she had ever received. She used her sewing for many years to style herself, her family and as a side job . In 1988, Tasha graduated from Hammond High School. She then furthered her education by graduating from Moler College with a certification in Cosmetology. After graduating she opened a nail shop out of her home. In 1987, at the age of 17, Tasha dedicated her life to God and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Introduced to Bible teachings by her parents, Tasha blossomed spiritually with the aid of her teacher and sister-friend, Debra Collins. In later years, Tasha began to battle her many health issues. However, she never lost her positivity despite going through her constant health challenges. Deeply grateful for their tireless care, Tasha spent her remaining time with family and friends laughing, reminiscing, and enjoying her favorite foods. She was always ready for a gathering with friends and family. Tasha developed a love for Jehovah and a love of people from cultivating her faith in the Bible and its promises for the future. She eagerly looked forward to the fulfillment of the Bible’s promise of a time when all will be able to reach their full potential, and when “no resident will say: ‘I am sick.’” (Isaiah 33:24) Tasha also set a personal goal for herself in her ministry to dedicate 50 hours a month to help others learn about the bible. On May 9, 2023, Tasha passed away, with her family at her side. Tasha is survived by her parents, Gary and Phyliss Brister of Hammond, LA; and her brother Broderick Brister of Hammond, LA. As well as many beloved Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Neices, Nephews, and close friends. TASHA WILL BE REMEMBERED for her beautiful smile, feminine style, love for life, her enthusiastic willingness to be involved in theocratic activities, and her sincere love for family and friends. She had strong faith in the promise found at Job 14:15: “You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.” Until Tasha answers that call, she will be greatly missed.
